Collaborative Disaster Management

THE COMMON ENEMY

Large scale natural and man-made disasters are steadily increasing in intensity and frequency. These events are augmented by regional conflicts, climate change and increased human interference. To survive disasters, we require innovative, holistic and integrative models of response and disaster management. In conflict zones, the scale and intensity of disasters are heightened as both disaster-preparedness and first response are not prioritized. This film explores the need for a collaborative disaster management between conflicting sides and the ways in which the fight against “the common enemy” can be streamlined. In the words of one of the interviewee, “Disasters are a shared grief. Can they be a harbinger of peace?”
