STONE RAGE

The role of youth in conflict is of a combatant, trouble-maker or a peacebuilder? There has been an increased evidence of a relationship between large pool of young people, instability and violence. A youth population, which is uprooted, lacks opportunities and has a grudge against the political system, becomes a major player in any conflict.

This award winning documentary highlights the role of young people in the Kashmir conflict. It focuses on the phenomenon of stone pelting in Kashmir, which saw an upsurge in 2010. Stone-pelting was seen as a shift from gun-wielding insurgency towards a more indigenous movement demanding autonomy for Kashmir from the Indian state. A part of the documentary and my interview was also featured on CNN.
